We moved recently and I really need to get back into a budget for groceries. Inflation and lack of planning are really kicking my butt! I have referred to the USDA in past budgeting exercises and am going to try to get us back down to a low cost plan. Some of my math below. Basically I’ll set an $800 budget this month for food as a goal, and reevaluate moving forward – this is accounting for meals husband gets at work (team lunches mostly) and food eaten at stepson’s mom’s.

To be honest, I think I’m already behind – this last week’s grocery run was $184 but I guess I don’t really need too much this week. I try to double up recipes when I can and freeze for leftovers (saves time and money) plus I try to shop the sales prior to meal planning. Fingers crossed I figure it out by the end of the month.

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any tips – so many helpful tips are online and I know we are all doing the best we can – so feedback is great!
